  1. May 16,  · Sally Can't Dance is the fourth solo studio album by American musician Lou Reed, released in August by RCA Records. Steve Katz and Reed produced the album. It remains Reed's highest-charting album in the United States, having peaked at #10 during a week stay on the Billboard album chart in October I.
  2. Mar 18,  · On the live album Rock N Roll Animal, Lou Reed showed he'd learned how to give his audience what they wanted, and do it well. Sally Can't Dance, on the other hand, was the polar opposite, a remarkably cynical album that pandered to the lowest common denominator of the market that had bought Transformer and Rock N Roll Animal, and didn't even do it with much flair.

  4. With Sally Can't Dance Lou is abrasively attacking our ears with a relentless flail of horns and lead guitar. The whole album through is a rock-band stylized stink bomb that makes Dylan's Blonde on Blonde sound like an experiment in musical precision or Infidels, hah, sound like a well-produced album/5(26).
  5. Sally Can't Dance is the fourth solo album from Lou Reed, it was Reed's highest charting album peaking at #10 during it's fourteen week chart run. It was also his first solo album not to contain any songs that had originally been recorded by his former band The Velvet Underground.
  6. Feb 20,  · Sally Can't Dance is not a bad Lou Reed album but it is not a great Lou Reed album either. It is more mellow then most of Reed's albums but no more mellow then Coney Island Baby, which is not only a personal favorite of mine but is considered to be one of his all time best/5(26).
  7. After the Velvet Underground, Lou Reed's solo career has been as erratic and intermittently brilliant as Iggy Pop's. In terms of his 70's output, Sally Can't Dance tends to be dismissed by both critics and fans alike. Odd since it's his highest charting album, even made the Top Lou's /5(28).
  8. Apr 26,  · The title track is loads of fun. "Ennui" is more poignant than Lou himself may have realized. Only "Animal Language" comes across like a bad joke, but even bad jokes are funny sometimes. Doug Yule's presence on "Billy" showed Squeeze was forgiven. And I think "Baby Face" is kind of what Lou Reed albums are expected to be. Lou Reed - Baby Face.
